Nature Pulled Me In

When nature awakens something deep within your soul and you begin caring for the hidden places of your own heart, you discover that not everything can come with you.
At first, it feels as though you are being rejected. From people, conversations, and places that once felt familiar suddenly begin to feel uncomfortable. You wonder if something is wrong with you because the things you once couldn't imagine living without no longer fit the person you are becoming.
But perhaps you are not being rejected at all.
Perhaps you are simply being redirected.
As your eyes begin to see more clearly and your heart learns to listen more deeply, you become increasingly aware of what nourishes your spirit and what quietly drains it. Conversations that once seemed harmless now leave you feeling weary. Constant noise begins to overwhelm you. Endless busyness no longer feels productive—it simply feels exhausting.
Your soul starts longing for something different.
It longs for truth.
For quiet.
For healthy conversations that encourage growth instead of division.
For relationships where hearts are known instead of performances being perfected.
Nature has a way of reminding us that everything healthy grows at its own pace. Trees don't rush their seasons. Wildflowers never compare themselves to the field beside them. Rivers do not apologize for flowing slowly. Creation simply becomes what it was designed to be.
Perhaps we are invited to do the same.
As I gently walked this new path of fulfillment, the adjustments and pivots were both unsettling and beautiful. Some days they rattled me to my core. Other days they wrapped around me like a deep breath of fresh air. It was a strange mixture of grief and peace, of letting go and being found.
It hurt.
And somehow, it healed.
Every morning I would walk from my back porch toward the doorway of that old tool shed. With each step, I felt a gentle pull that I could not explain. Something inside me knew this little building was about to become far more than a renovation project.
It was becoming sacred ground.
I sensed that what was beginning there would ripple far beyond my own life. It would shape my children, my grandchildren, my home, my friendships, and perhaps even those of you reading these words today. The ripple of one healed heart has the power to touch generations.
What an incredible honor it felt to be invited into this selfwork.
I was beginning practices and rituals that would forever change the way I lived. Yet even in the middle of all that peace, another voice still lingered.
The unhealed part of me.
The part that believed everything had to be controlled.
The part that questioned every step.
The part that wondered if I was making all of this up.
That voice hadn't disappeared overnight. It had simply grown quieter.
Yep, I could still hear it...
It just wasn't the loudest voice in the room anymore.
And if I'm being completely honest...
Sometimes it still clears its throat and tries to get my attention.
I usually smile, thank it for its concern, and then choose to keep walking toward the shed.
