The landing Place

The foyer is more than a passageway into my home; it is an invitation to exhale.
It is the place where the noise of the outside world begins to slowing drift away, where hurried footsteps slow and hearts are gently reminded that they are welcome here.
Before anyone steps fully into the story my home is waiting to tell, they are greeted by a space that asks nothing of them except to be present.
A simple bench waits patiently beside the door. Hooks stand ready to receive jackets, scarves, and bags. Yet I have always hoped this little corner offers something deeper than a place to set down belongings. I hope it becomes a place to lay down the unseen burdens as well—the worries carried from work, the unanswered questions, the weariness of busy days, and the weight of expectations that seem to follow us wherever we go.
As guests, family, neibghbors, and community cross the threshold, I want them to feel what simple living has taught me: that home is not found in perfection but in peace. It is found in spaces that allow us to rest, to gather ourselves, and to remember what matters most.
The foyer whispers the first chapter of that story. It welcomes every soul with quiet grace and reminds them they do not have to carry everything inside with them. Here, there is room to set it down.
Come in. Leave your coat by the door. Leave your worries there too. Sit for a while. Rest your spirit. Let the warmth of this home wrap around you like an old quilt, and allow yourself to be restored before continuing on my simple journey.
Every home tells a story. My foyer begins with a simple message: You are welcome here, just as you are.
So if you ever cross the threshold of my home, my deepest hope is that you leave with something you did not bring in.
A lighter heart.
A quieter mind.
A renewed sense that you are seen, valued, and loved.
If the world has been unkind, may you find kindness here. If life has left you weary, may you find rest here. And if you have forgotten your own worth, may you leave this home remembering it once again.
Welcome to my Simple Life.
